Awards for Local Campsites
Seven campsites were honoured at the annual Campsite Rating Awards last week, hosted by South Northamptonshire Council (SNC).
The awards were held at Silverstone Racing Club, Silverstone Circuit on Friday, 21 April with Cllr Caryl Billingham MBE, chairman of SNC, in attendance to present the awards.
Silverstone campsites can be awarded one of three awards – silver, gold or platinum. This year, winners based on assessments from the 2016 season are:
- Cavalier Fields Campsite- Platinum Award
- Dadford Road Campsite - Platinum Award
- Whittlebury Park Campsite - Platinum Award
- Silverstone Woodlands Campsite - Platinum Award
- Hamilton Fields Campsite - Platinum award
- Silverstone Farm Camping - Silver Award
- Litchlake Fields Campsite - Silver Award
Jackie Fitzsimons, SNC's shared public protection manager, said: "Throughout the year there are many events happening in and around Silverstone, with thousands of visitors coming from around the globe.
"The awards scheme gives those visitors peace of mind that the site they have chosen has been assessed and meets or exceeds certain standards."
The scheme was devised to highlight campsites that comply with health, safety and welfare standards and help visitors choose campsites that meet certain standards.
The platinum award was introduced in 2015 in recognition of those campsites whose enhanced standards go above and beyond the minimum requirements to provide a safe and enjoyable experience for visitors.
Run in partnership with Silverstone Circuits Ltd, campsites are assessed annually by the Silverstone Inter Agency Campsite Subgroup which comprises SNC, Aylesbury Vale District Council, Thames Valley Police, Northamptonshire Police, Buckingham Fire Service and Northamptonshire Fire Service.
